Falls Creek is regarded historically as having one of the best terrain park networks in Australia. However, the experience has been lacking lately, much to the dismay of local park riders.
As has been the case at other Vail properties in the past, the terrain park setup has been declining in recent years. A notable difference, however, is that the Australian ski resort issued a public apology.
Last week, Falls Creek Terrain Parks issued a public apology for a lack of features to start out the season. The park crew stated that the terrain parks continue to be part of the ski resort’s plan for this and future seasons.
Since then, they’ve posted a couple of updates on the terrain park lineup, and skiers and riders appear to be pleased with the changes.
I will say on Vail’s defense that they do tend to listen to guests’ feedback on terrain parks. My home mountain, Mount Sunapee, had a pretty weak setup for a couple of years following its acquisition by Vail Resorts. However, they’ve stepped it up in recent seasons, with a pretty nice setup of features and jumps this past winter.
With it still being early, we’ll have to see if Victoria’s Largest ski resort continues to work on their parks, or if they’ll slip back into their recent ways.
