Yellowstone National Park just announced their historic Laurel Dormitory will be getting some much needed upgrades. Designed by Robert Reamer, architect of the historic Old Faithful Inn, Laurel Dormitory was built in 1925 and is one of the few remaining buildings in the Old Faithful Inn Historic District which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The building has been updated in sporadically since its construction 100 years ago but is in desperate need of renovation as it is showing signs of advanced deterioration and lacks current accessibility standards.

A 2022 document detailing the scope of the rehabilitation project sited the need for structural/seismic upgrades, building envelope upgrades, MEP, and site work. All told they estimated the project to cost between $10 million and $20 million. We will be sure to monitor this project and update when information becomes available.
