Out-of-state camper price hike @ Oregon State Parks
Out-of-state camper price hike @ Oregon State Parks

If you are a non-Oregonian and thinking of staying at an Oregon State Park you should know they have increased camping and parking fees by 25% for out-of-state visitors, effective July 1st.

The new nonresident surcharge comes on top of a  recent cost increase for all park users which went into effect at the beginning of the year. Visitors buying parking passes at Oregon State Park kiosks will now be presented with two options “in-state” and “out-of-state” and they will rely on the honor system for visitors at the point of purchase if there is no ranger present.

The Oregon State Park system is one of the most popular in America with an estimated 50 million daytime visitors and 3 million camping nights per year. Oregon State Parks manages 259 properties, including camping at 52 parks, on more than 113,000 acres. No current estimates on how much revenue this price hike will generate but one would imagine it could be substantial.
