The National Park Service invites all visitors to commemorate Juneteenth National Independence Day by visiting a national park. Entrance fees will not be charged on June 19th, 2025.
Juneteenth National Independence Day was signed into law as a national holiday on June 17th, 2021 to celebrate the date of June 19th, 1865, when enslaved people of African descent located in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom from the slavery system in the United States.
On Juneteenth all National Park visitors will be able to enter parks at no cost but they will however still be required to pay fees for activities in the park including camping, tours and boat launching.
The National Parks Service recommends that visitors who plan to take advantage of the Juneteenth holiday to arrive early as fee-free days predictably draw crowds. Happy Juneteenth!
