Mountain Biking at Sugarloaf, Maine.
Mountain Biking at Sugarloaf, Maine.

Sugarloaf Mountain is iconic, offering the most ski terrain of any resort in Maine on the second tallest mountain in state. Mountain biking has always been a part of the resort’s identity, with trails winding throughout the surrounding Carrabassett Valley. But the brand new Sugarloaf Bike Park is set to open over July 4 weekend, bringing in the first public lift access riding on the mountain.

The bike park will open with a 3-mile flow trail accessible via the Whiffletree Quad. The machine-built gravity trail is one of many to come and goes along side the existing enduro and downhill race trails available for expert riders already on the mountain. The flow trail was designed with intermediate riders in mind.

Riding at the Sugarloaf Bike Park will require a day ticket or season pass, both of which are yet to go on sale. The full-service Sugarloaf Bike Shop will provide mechanical work, essential gear like full-face helmets and pads, and rentals for those without their own gear.

The Sugarloaf Bike Park will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 6pm and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. The park’s grand opening comes with lift tickets as low as $25, a DJ on the Beach on Friday, and  live music from 4-7 PM on Saturday.
