Arapahoe Basin CEO Alan Henceroth has been keeping a close eye on the waters of Lake Reveal and provided this update Sunday afternoon:
“The water at Lake Reveal became visible Saturday afternoon. It starts small, but it will grow quickly. We are going to be closed for the next four days, but we will re-open. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will offer a fun weekend of pond skimming.”
The late showing of Lake Reveal is actually a positive indication that the snowpack is deep and strong up high:
“A deep and strong snowpack is needed to extend the season further into June. These are all good signs.”
Once Lake Reveal surfaces it is a hot spot for skiers and snowboarders to try their hand at hydroplaning. Here’s a clip from last spring to give you an idea of how it works.
