Coldwater, Ontario — After adding their first eight-pack chairlift during the 2023-24 season, Mount St. Louis Moonstone will be opening another modern chairlift next winter.

Yesterday, Mount St. Louis Moonstone announced that it will be adding a new Doppelmayr 6-CLD chairlift. This Doppelmayr D-Line detachable high-speed six-pack chairlift will be known as The Elfriede Huter Xpress. This is in honor of Elfriede Huter, who played an integral part in the Ontario ski resort’s legacy. This will replace the Poma Easy Street Triple and the BM Outback Quad chairlifts.

The new chairlift will have an uphill capacity of 3,000 people per hour, a significant increase compared to its predecessors. Some of the features will include heated seats and footrests. For beginner skiers, there will be features like child-lock restraints and a loading conveyor that’s adjustable based on the rider’s height.

“Our goal is to stay ahead of the curve, investing where it matters most—on the slopes,” said Andre Huter, the Operations Director at Mount St. Louis Moonstone. “This new lift is not just about speed, it’s about guest experience, comfort, and continuing to build on the legacy of innovation that’s been our family’s foundation since 1964.”

The new chairlift is scheduled to open during the 2025-26 season.
