Tragic news out of Arches National Park where a 77-year-old man has died after falling while hiking on the Windows Loop trail.

According to the National Park Service, rangers responded to reports on Tuesday, May 6, of a fallen hiker on a primitive section of the Windows Loop trail. Bystanders conducted CPR on the man before rangers arrived on the scene.

Grand County Sheriffโ€™s Department, Grand County EMS, and Classic Air Medical personnel responded as well. Sadly, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the 77-year-old Rudolf Peters from Haltern am See, Germany, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The National Park Service and Grand County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident. No further information is available at this time.
