Powder skiing at Alta.
Powder skiing at Alta.

The ski season is almost over, and even some of the snowiest resorts have already shut down their winter operations. Yes there are still several open areas across the United States and there is still a possibility of more snow coming down on those areas, but at this point we have to admit that it’s almost time to put our skis away.

For some ski areas, this season was truly epic, for others it was pretty middle of the road, and for a few it was down right bad. But there’s always next year to look forward to. When it comes to the snowiest resorts in the country, the usual suspects sit among the top 5.

5. Snowbird, UT – 520 inches (Closing weekend scheduled for Memorial Day)

4. Timberline Lodge, OR – 520 inches (Open into the summer)

3. Alta Ski Area, UT – 538 inches (Closed for the season)

2. Mt. Baker, WA – 585 inches (Closed for the season)

1. Alyeska Resort, AK – 772 inches (Closed for the season)
