Poaching snowboarders at Alta.

For closing weekend, Alta Ski Area celebrates the end of the season with hot dogs, slush bumps, sunny groomers, and top-notch vibes. A sort of unofficial event, the Frank World Classic, is typically held on the final day, celebrating a certain “Frank” energy of pure on-mountain retro bliss without a need for glitz and glamor. The event isn’t officially sanctioned by Alta, but it would be hard to argue they don’t at least somewhat encourage it.

Of course Alta does not (and possibly never will) encourage the use of snowboards on their mountain. Alta restricts the use of any equipment other than skis, including snowboards, split boards, snow bikes, snow skates, ski blades, saucers, and more. That goes both for their lifts and for their trails, but these two snowboarders still managed to get in on the Frank action.

Alta is directly connected to Snowbird (which does allow snowboarders) through multiple gates, so it seems likely that these two trespassers took a Snowbird lift and crossed over to poach the run. However they did it, the crowd certainly isn’t having it.
