Chair removal on White Pass's Chair 4.

The dismantling of White Pass Ski Area‘s Chair 4 has begun despite the ski area reopening for one last weekend on April 26 and 27. Replacing the old lift will be a Dopplemayr Quad featuring a loading carpet and comfort bars on the chairs. But before that can be put up the old chair has to go, and with the mountain open to the public this past weekend some guests were able to enjoy quite a show as the chairs were removed one by one.

It’s quite interesting to see how the chairs are removed, the way it’s released when twisted to the side. The new chair is set to be up and running for the 2025/26 ski and snowboard season.

Washington’s White Pass Ski Area is currently closed through the week but will reopen for closing weekend on April 26 and 27. The mountain’s closing weekend “Yeti Hunt”, which involves guests taking pictures with yeti signs around the mountain, will provide the opportunity to win Chair 4 chair. The other chairs will be auctioned to raise money for the youth program.

On Sunday just one yeti will be hidden on the mountain, and the person who finds it will earn an unrestricted season pass for the 2025/26 season (those who’ve already purchased a 2025/26 season pass will have their pass extended to last two years).
