If you’re looking to enjoy the national park’s of the United States in an incredibly unique way, look no further than “Trails & Rails.” The National Park Service program allows guests to enjoy traveling show-and-tell programs from volunteer guides, explaining the regional historic and natural resources related to the area.

The Trails & Rails program is spread across the country, ranging from the Mississippi River valley to the Roosevelt mansion in Hyde Park. 11 total sites host the program from coast to coast, with some routes running between May and November. The 11 main host sights are as follows:
- National Parks of New York Harbor
- Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites
- Saratoga National Historical Park
- National Mall and Memorial Parks
- Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park
- Gateway Arch National Park
- Lincoln Home National Historic Site
- Oklahoma City National Memorial
- Mississippi National River and Recreation Area
- Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park – Seattle Unit
- Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail
A 2025 schedule has not yet been released on the National Park Service website, but accessing the National Park app can help you plan ahead and find the right train for you.
