If you’ve ever been at a ski resort and wondered why the run under the chairlift is closed despite there being a ton of snow, this could very well be why.
Lift runs are a great time, where the pressure of the people above can influence you for better or worse. But if there’s too much snow and the chairlift is too low, things can get not-so-good pretty fast.
Such was the case with these two snowboarders in the Hakuba area of Japan. While they were enjoying a ride down a well filled-in lift run, the descending chairlift managed to smack both helmetless riders in the head.
Let this be yet another reminder that skiing and snowboarding with a helmet is highly recommended. You never know what could hit you on the head on the mountain, and a helmet can easily protect from injuries or worse.
