It’s the time of year where ski resorts will shut down their ski lifts for the season, cleanup the mountain, and start to prepare for summer operations. Many mountains have already closed. Some have another weekend or two. Others will stay open into May. A select handful may even stay open into June.
It’s not guaranteed, but every year it seems like at least one ski area will manage to keep lifts spinning for a weekend or two in June. We certainly can’t ensure that these 4 ski areas will be open in the sixth month of 2025, but they were open in June of 2024.
Arapahoe Basin, Colorado
Arapahoe Basin is consistently one of the last few ski areas to close in the country. Last year weekday operations came to a close after June 2, but they tossed in a few June weekends to keep the party going. Their final day of winter operations for the 2023/24 season was Sunday, June 16. They have not announced a closing date for the 2024/25 season.
Arizona Snowbowl Ski Resort, Arizona
Arizona Snowbowl celebrated the latest closure in state history last year, running lifts for the last time of the 2023/24 season on June 1. They had been closed during the weekdays for a bit, but spring operations continued on weekends for as long as they could manage. They are yet to announced their 2024/25 closing date.
Killington Ski Resort, Vermont
Killington held onto the East coast ski season for as long as they could, keeping operations at the Beast going until June 1. Lift tickets for last year’s closing day cost just $25 and all proceeds went to the Killington Mountain Bike Club. In 1997, Killington stayed open until June 22. No closing date has been set for the 2024/25 ski season.

Timberline Lodge, Oregon
Including Timberline Lodge on this list is a bit of a cheat, but here we are. The Palmer Express lift doesn’t even operate until spring rolls around, and then it stays open typically quite late into the summer. Last year, Palmer stopped spinning on August 18. Like the above three mountains, Timberline has not announced a closing date. Unlike the above three mountains, Timberline Lodge is likely to be open into August.
