Marco Odermatt breaks Crystal Globe

Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt earned his 2nd Downhill Crystal Globe in a row yesterday after ending the 2024/2025 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup season as the winner in the Super G, giant slalom and the downhill.

During his celebration Marco tossed his delicate trophy in the air and it banged off the medal he was wearing around his neck and base was broken off into pieces. Instead of crying over spilled milk, Marco picked up the shards and handed them out to his teammates as souvenirs in what was the definition of turning lemons in to lemonade.

Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time the Swiss superstar has broken ski trophy. Back in 2019 Odermatt dropped his trophy after his World Cup podium finish. Congratulations to Marco!
