75-year-old Woody Woodson is a Brundage Mountain legend. He started working at the Idaho resort when he was 28 years old back in 1978. One day while skiing, Woody was blindsided by somebody who suddenly appeared out of the trees. From that day on, he began shouting “whoop whoop” as a way to warn others that he might be in there way. Today, that “whoop whoop” is as iconic as the man himself.
Woody’s skied well over 100 days at Brundage already this year, more than anyone else at the resort this season. At this point, he’s closer to 110 days. He may be 75, but he’s still more of a ski bum than you or me.
Woody has seen Brundage Mountain grow and change, and he still seems to be loving it. If you’ve skied at the Idaho resort, there’s a very good chance you’ve heard his “whoop whoop” echoing though the hills.
