As nice as the weather may and as much as you may want to visit Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park this upcoming week, it’s important to remember that now is not the time to do it. Yellowstone is reminding the public that all roads to Old Faithful and many other roads throughout the park are currently CLOSED.
Most roads throughout Yellowstone are closed to regular vehicles between early November and late-April, though several roads to to limited oversnow travel between mid-December and mid-March. If you were really hoping to visit this week, the road between the North Entrance at Gardiner, Montana, through the park to Cooke City, Montana is still open.
Fear not! If you desperately need to get a look at Old Faithful before the roads open again, Yellowstone National Park keeps nine webcams consistently updated for your entertainment. You can check those out here.
If you do have a look, you’ll notice that Old Faithful and the Upper Geyser Basin still has a solid snow coverage, explaining why the area’s roads are still closed, as much as you may want to visit. Fortunately the park will slowly start to open roads throughout the park in a few more weeks.
