We’ve seen all manner of backyard terrain parks over the years from simple PVC tube rails to Jon Olsson who is currently in the market for a chairlift to service his residential slope in Sweden.
Somewhere in the middle but most definitely towards the top lies The Log Yard Backyard Park in Ontario, Canada. Shawn and Kate are the proprietors of this incredible passion project inspired by the late great Ken Block’s DC Mountain Lab.
They have been refining their setup since buying their property in 2017 and it currently hosts a DIY snowcat in the form a souped up ATV complete tracks and tiller, snowmaking and t-bar.
The Log Yard runs all winter long but they really go all out for the annual Spring Fling event where they construct creative pond skim features that put major resorts to shame. They recently hosted the 5th edition of their Spring Fling celebration and the clips looks incredible:
Cheers to this incredible couple who have transformed their home into a terrain park paradise. Well done!
About The Log Yard Backyard Park:
When I was 13-years-old, my friend brought home the first snowboard DVD I had ever seen, “The DC Mountain Lab”. Listening to Ken Block describe living with his own personal snowboard park in the backyard was magical, and has clearly stuck with me. I knew that was something I wanted.
In 2017 Kate and I decided we wanted to buy a house with as much land as we could with a hill to ride on. We found the perfect place. After years of renovations, felling trees, landscaping and making new friends its all come together. We now have top notch night riding, a t-bar lift, a 6-10 feature snow park and have started snowmaking. More recently, to keep us active in the summer months, we have begun building a mountain bike park. Never stop playing.
Please note: We are not open to the public. Thank you for your understanding.
