A man from Texas visiting family in Colorado was knocked unconscious after his borrowed Ram 1500 Truck was struck by a massive avalanche while driving on Loveland Pass in Colorado Friday night around 7:15pm.
After coming to, Vu Nguyen crawled through a broken window and started climbing up the slope he had been swept down. A couple of bystanders came to his aid and tossed him a rope and pulled him back up to the road.
The avalanche happened on a known slide path called Seven Sister 6 near Loveland Ski Area and was about 164 feet wide and 4 to 5 feet deep. Vu Nguyen only suffered minor injuries.

Due to adverse conditions and rising avalanche danger, CDOT maintenance personnel and CAIC forecasters decided to close US Highway 6 over Loveland Pass. The highway was closed at 6:30PM, and CDOT maintenance crews were in the process of helping motorists off the pass. At approximately 7:15PM a natural avalanche released in an avalanche path known as Seven Sister 6, and swept a pickup truck off the road. One person was in the vehicle at the time. They were not seriously injured. CDOT, CAIC, Clear Creek County Sheriff, Summit County Sheriff, Summit Rescue Group, and Alpine Rescue Team responded to the accident.
