Hancock, Vermont — Probably the most underrated ski area in Vermont is the Middlebury Snowbowl. Located nearby Middlebury College, the ski area has grown in notoriety in recent years. This is thanks to major projects like adding night skiing and replacing the Sheehan Chairlift with a Skytrac fixed-grip quad. However, operations have been hampered over the past few seasons due to repairs needed to operate the Bailey Falls chairlift.

This past offseason, work began on refurbishing the Bailey Falls chairlift. The work included a haul rope replacement, along with updates to its electrical and safety systems. Crews from SkyTrac, Leitner Poma, and GWTatroConstruction helped get this project to the finish line. Today, Middlebury reopened the lift at 10am, which was great timing based on the new snowfall they’ve received.

This officially allows the Snowbowl to be 100% open for the first time in two years as well. Currently, 29 trails and four lifts are open at the Vermont ski area. The backside terrain, which is home to the Bailey Falls chairlift, features offerings for beginners, intermediates, and advanced skiers and riders.
