Drag racing on a ski slope.
Drag racing on a ski slope.

I think it’s pretty clear that the Europeans have the upper hand on North Americans when it comes to motorsports. Sure, NASCAR and IndyCar are cool, and we’ve got some gnarly hill climbs in the United States, but we don’t have a drag race with 1,000+ HP cars up an ice covered ski slope!

This race appears to have taken place at the Skiwelt Schöneck, a small ski area in Germany near the border with Czechia. There doesn’t seem to be a ton of information available on the event itself, but it’s clear that a 10,000 euro prize was given to the winner. But of course the drivers decide that whoever wins will give the prize money away to a good cause in the region.

It seems like such a fun event. Even when our video maker, OG Schaefchen, crashes his car into a snowbank, he’s laughing and the staff are laughing. I’d love to see something like this go down in the U.S., but I don’t think that’s a very realistic idea.
