When we think about ranking ski resort, we usually think about the best, the biggest, the most difficult, or the most fun. There’s a whole lot of categories, but we don’t usually think about the most unusual. Fortunately for our entertainment and curiosity, mountainsight‘s got us covered.
“There are ski resorts in many unusual parts of our world. When planning a ski trip, there are a large number of resorts to choose from. When thinking of ski resorts, most immediately imagine the Alps in Europe or the majestic mountains in Canada and USA. However, there are many places in the world where you can ski which few people have heard of.“
Mountainsight’s list is as follows:
• Afriski, Lesotho
• Mauna Kea, Hawaii
• Gulmarg, India
• Solbakken, Greenland
• Troodos, Cyprus
• CopenHill, Denmark
• Tasmania, Australia
• Oukaïmeden, Morocco
• Mount Olympus, Greece
• Ski Dubai Centre, Dubai
As a note, some of these ski “areas” that mountainsight might not count as proper ski areas. Specifically the Hawaiian volcano of Mauna Kea doesn’t actually have lifts or any other sort of ski area facilities. That said, if I’m traveling to Hawaii anytime soon, I’ll be checking the snow conditions before I pack.
