One way to ski a narrow couloir
One way to ski a narrow couloir

Not entirely sure if this technique for getting down a couloir so narrow that you can’t turn you skis still qualifies as skiing but when you’re in a high elevation pinch, any available tactic that gets you where you want to go is the right one.

Lots of phrases come to mind: any port in a storm, desperate times call for desperate measures, necessity knows no laws…you get the point.

The skier advises this means of descent only works in deep snow (full tail in the snow down up the heel of the ski boot) and was preferable over his other two options, crampons or straight lining. Bit kooky but effective.
