Meet Jim Rudy, a self-employed contractor that downsized from the house he owned for 25 years to a stealthy tiny home he built in just two months. Jim utilized a barebones 8.5 x 20′ cargo trailer as the framework for his project and created no-nonsense mobile living quarters that serves as both his home and traveling workspace.

Jim prefers clutter free living so the interior is open with five different types of wood to create a soothing atmosphere surrounded natural tones. To save space he included plenty of cleverly tucked away storage and installed a Murphy bed equipped with an ATV wench that lowers by remote control and completely disappears when retracted.

Since becoming a nomadic carpenter, Jim’s new motto is “home is where you park it.” It is simply incredible what a determined person can do with a simple cargo trailer, some tools and whole lot of knowhow. Enjoy the walk through and draw inspiration if you are considering making your own DIY rig:
