Olympic kite surfer Bruno Lobo rescues drowning woman

Cheers to Brazilian Olympic Kitesurfer Bruno Lobo who was kitesurfing off the coast of São Luís in Brazil when he heard a woman in distress and came to her aid.

Bruno quickly snapped into action after hearing screams and doubled back to rescue the woman who was “very tired and without strength.” Bruno leapt off his board and kept his kite aloft while he approached the woman and helped the woman onto his back.

“After sailing a few meters I heard a cry for help and looked at the girl who was drowning. I promptly approached her with the kite, tried to calm her down and asked her to climb on my back she was very tired and had no strength.”

Bruno used his kite to ferry the woman back to shore where she was met by awaiting lifeguards. She was clearly shaken up but managed to give a teary eyed hug to her rescuer before walking to shore. He just so happened to be testing out a new camera setup and captured the entire rescue on video.

Bruno wanted to use video which has made international news as a warning to anyone venturing into the ocean that “the sea is really very dangerous and the tide can pull you out to sea.” We second that and want to salute the Olympic athlete who very well may have saved a life. Cheers!
