On this past Christmas Eve, a father and two brothers went a for a snowmobile ride in the Franklin Basin area in Utah. While riding, an avalanche was triggered and one of the brothers was caught and buried. Fortunately a quick rescue was performed, and the brother was fortunately okay.
News of the avalanche was originally released just after the accident, but now the Utah Avalanche Center has shared their story, covering exactly what happened while showing video clips of the terrifying incident.
“On Christmas Eve, 2024, the Hansen Brothers and their father went for a ride in Steep Hollow in the Franklin Basin Area. One of the riders triggered a large avalanche that caught, carried, and buried the older brother. The younger brother used a transceiver to quickly find and rescue his buried brother.”
