Eric “Hoji” Hjorleifson is easily among the best professional freeskiers in the world, both through his on snow talents and through his contributions to ski technology. He’s also just an incredibly fun skier to watch, with a style that really shines on camera.
Sportsense.coach, an app designed to create virtual coaching experiences for thousands of athletes and coaches, shared a video comparing the style of Hjorleifson to that of professional ski racer Vincent Kriechmayr.
Hjorleifson did grow up ski racing, so it’s not entirely surprising to see that he’s retained that downhill technique in his freeskiing, but it is quite wild to see just how similar the technique is. Ski racing undoubtedly teaches you skills that can be used in all sorts of skiing terrain, don’t think otherwise.
