It’s a tricky thing measuring how tall waves are but it is looking like Alessandro “Alo” Slebir just rode the biggest wave in human history during a December 23rd session at Maverick’s, a surf spot just outside of Half Moon Bay in Northern California.

Don’t hold your breath for the 23-year-old Santa Cruz local’s wave to be declared a world record, the last record setting wave was 86 feet in Nazaré, Portugal in 2020 but it took 18 a full months to confirm. Whether or not Alo’s wave smashes the record or not, he says it was the biggest he has ever ridden and is proud of his accomplishment.
