A man who left his snowboard on a rack in the village at Copper Mountain while getting some lunch and running some errands returned to find that the board was missing. While it isn’t confirmed to be a theft, a police report was taken and an investigation is ongoing.

According to the Summit County Justice Files, a second theft was reported during the same week at Copper Mountain, with an individual’s vehicle being broken into. Over $2,000 worth of belongings, including a designer handbag, credit cards and a pair of skis, were stolen from the car. The man was able to cancel all of his credit cards and no damage was done to the vehicle.

In another incident that occurred last week at Copper, a man’s condo was mis-rented by an online rental company. Apparently the owner had recently purchased the condo earlier this year, which was rented out by the online service prior to his purchase. The man requested that all keys to the unit be deactivated, as he no longer intended to rent it out.

Unfortunately there was a miscommunication and the company rented out the newly renovated unit in late-November. The renters drank all of the owner’s booze and damaged some of the furniture during their stay. The owner has decided to try to handle the matter civilly with the rental company, rather than pursuing any charges.
