In what’s already been a pretty successful ski season, Mt. Bachelor has announced their earliest summit opening in over 10 years. Hot on the heals of that opening, the resort started spinning their Northwest chairlift, providing even more terrain the skiers and snowboarders.
With the opening of both the summit and Northwest, Mt. Bachelor now has 8 of 12 lifts spinning (not counting carpets) and 120 of 124 trails open. They’ve already seen 120 inches of snowfall through the season, and the base depth is already at 4 feet.
“Hot on the heels of our earliest Summit opening in over a decade, Northwest is scheduled to join our operating footprint today. With that addition, there are 8 chairlifts on schedule for today’s operations: Cloudchaser, Sunrise, Summit, Skyliner, Little Pine, Pine Marten, Outback, and Northwest. The current temp at West Village base is 34°, with mid-mountain stations hovering right around the freezing mark.” – Mt. Bachelor Mountain Report on 12/11
If that’s not enough, Mt. Bachelor is looking at around 7 days straight of snowfall (ranging from light to fairly heavy) in the forecast, meaning this week, this weekend, and next week could be pretty darn stellar. It’s shaping up to be an epic season!
