Bartlett, New Hampshire — What can a ski shop do to differentiate itself? Creating a competitive advantage for a ski shop can be a challenging thing, especially in a ski town. This is especially true in the Mt. Washington Valley, which is home to an endless amount of ski shops.
One thing is to have a sign that displays various hilarious messages throughout the year. Andes Ski Shop certainly checks that box.
Then there’s the shop. Skiers and riders tend to look for great service, an array of gear, and proximity to the mountains. Andes Ski Shop already has those, but they decided to add an arcade game to bring more people in.
This week, Andes Ski Shop showed off its new toy. The New Hampshire ski shop has installed a Super Alpine Racer ski simulator arcade game. Costing only $1 to play, it gives people a chance to get those quads burning before hitting the slopes. Those who get the highest score will win either an Andes beanie or a $5 ski shop coin. The first version of this arcade game, Alpine Racer, debuted in 1994. This version of Alpine Racer was released in 2014, and currently costs $5195, albeit without shipping.
This is a great addition, and I think more ski shops should add ski arcade or simulators to bring people in. Because getting those quads active before ski season will give you a better chance of going the distance.
