Sugar Mountain, North Carolina — It’s been a great start to the ski season for North Carolina. Cold temperatures and natural snowfall have allowed two ski resorts in North Carolina to open for the season.

Sugar Mountain Resort was the first to open. Thanks to 6″ of natural snow and a snowmaking push, Sugar Mountain opened up on Friday, November 23rd . The North Carolina ski resort currently has seven runs and four lifts open, an impressive tally for November.

The second to open was Catalooche, which opened its lifts today for the 2024-25 season. The ski area currently has eight trails and two lifts open, along with some terrain park features.
