Fascinating talk by aerodynamicist Vojtech Sedlak at the Blender Conference held in Amsterdam about how he uses Blender (free and open-source 3D graphics software) to better understand how air flows around speed skiers who can go as fast as 158mph.
Using a virtual environment, specialists like Vojtech can examine how to optimize a skier’s tuck or how thing like helmets and poles effect air resistance. When Vojtect isn’t working on making the Swedish SpeedSki Team lightning fast, he works at Aero and Design division of Volvo as a Senior Aerodynamicist.
Interesting chat. Cheers!
