COLORADO – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has issued a travel alert for Southwest Colorado ahead of the first major snowstorm set to hit the state this weekend. Crews began preparing for the weather yesterday, October 16, continuing into and through most of the weekend.

“Travelers are advised to be prepared for treacherous road conditions, especially at higher elevations, along all southwest and several south-central mountain passes.” – CDOT

Specific mountain passes mentioned by CDOT include US 160 Wolf Creek, US 550 Red Mountain/Molas/Coal Bank, CO 145 Lizard Head, CO 149 Slumgullion, US 50 Monarch, US 160 La Veta, CO 114 Cochetopa, & CO 17 Cumbres/La Manga.
