A Blackhawk helicopter from Buckley Air Force Base was involved in the rescue of a 50-year-old adult male who went missing on Colorado’s Silver Creek Trail earlier this week. According to Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office, the man went missing while hiking on Monday, October 14.

When the man had not returned to his vehicle or other belongings Tuesday morning, Clear Creek County Sheriff, Alpine Rescue Team, Clear Creek EMS, Clear Creek Fire Authority, and Flight For Life Colorado all snapped into rescue mode. They were able to contact the man by phone, but he had suffered a serious injury and required evacuation.

Reaching the man on foot took several hours. At 4:45pm on Tuesday, the Clear Creek County Sheriff provided an update that a Blackhawk helicopter from Buckley Air Force Base had landed at Station 1A in Dumont, picking up 2 Alpine team members to assist with the rescue.

By 5:30pm, the man had been successfully and safely removed from the mountain and transported to a Flight For Life Colorado helicopter and brought to a hospital for recovery.
