WATERVILLE VALLEY, New Hampshire – One of New Hampshire’s independent ski resorts has officially started snowmaking, with Waterville Valley Resort kicking on their snowguns for the first time on Thursday, October 10.
It’s not clear whether this was simply a test or if it was the first step in the layering process required to get snow on the ground, but it looks like it was a decently big effort. A look at their summit live cam shows zero snow on the ground, but the first step in snowmaking is often just about cooling the ground more than actually getting stuff to stick.
It’s not clear when Waterville Valley hopes to open their chairlifts to the public, but season passes are on sale now. Buying an adult season pass can also get you a free Junior pass for kids aged 6-12, making it a whole lot easier to teach your kids how to shred. The adult pass is currently available for $1,264, but pass prices increase on October 14.
