YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyoming – Yellowstone National Park is teaming with wildlife. It’s when that wildlife interacts with each other that gets things really exciting. While it is a part of nature, very few people want to see a baby animal die. Fortunately that’s not what happens in this clip, but it is extremely exciting.

Coyotes aren’t really large, typically weighing around 25โ€“35 pounds while standing just 16โ€“20 inches tall at the shoulder. Most of the time, their diet consists of small mammals like mice, voles, rabbits, or anything they’re able to scavenge. But they’ll go after young elk or bison if possible, though it isn’t super common.

Bison are very protective of their young, too. They will work together to protect the calves, forming protective circles around the animals when necessary. Female bison, who will be quite protective, can weigh up to 1,000 pounds in addition to being able to run 35 mph. They should not be messed with.
