Park City, Utah — Deer Valley’s much anticipated expansion will debut this winter.

Yesterday, Deer Valley Resort announced that the first phase of the Deer Valley East Village terrain expansion (previously referred to as Mayflower) will open during the 2024-25 season (conditions permitting). While various news outlets reported that this would be the case before this announcement, this confirmation gives skiers (and not riders) an idea about how many trails and lifts will be a part of Deer Valley’s lineup next winter.

The first phase, opening this winter, will add 24 trails and three lifts. The expansion will add 300 more acres of skiable terrain. The signature addition is The Keetley Express, a six-pack high-speed detachable bubble chairlift that will service the new terrain and connect to Bald Mountain. The second lift is the Hoodoo Express, a high-speed quad that will service a beginner area. Aurora, the third lift, is a connector lift that allows guests to return to the Deer Valley East Village from what will be a landlocked terrain pod this winter. A temporary skier services building will be constructed for guests to pay for lift tickets and lessons. The Grand Hyatt Deer Valley, situated at the new base village, will open this November.

While advanced skiers may not be super excited about some of the lower-elevation terrain, there are some things to consider. The Keetley Express will give the most direct access to Bald Mountain, which features a plethora of advanced runs. In a state full of ski resorts without many parking spaces, 500 new spots located very conveniently off US Route 40 is a nice perk, too. Eventually, this terrain pod will feature over 1200 parking spots.

Six new lifts will debut in the 2024-25 season. The headliner will be the East Village Gondola, a two-stage gondola that will connect to the Pinyon and Revelator Express terrain pods. The other five new chairlifts will be high-speed detachables.

The timeline for phase three, which includes expanding onto South Peak (mostly advanced terrain), has yet to be announced. When fully complete, Deer Valley will have 238 trails, 37 lifts, and 5726 skiable acres.
