Blatant display of profound self-importance inside Zion National Park where a yoga influencer climbed over a cliffside protective fence to take pictures and videos. If this woman had fallen it would not have been a rescue operation, it would have been a body recovery.
Zion National Park encompasses 148,733 acres and there will never be enough park rangers to babysit the 4.5 million tourists that visit each year. Thereby Zion has a personal responsibility code stating “your safety depends on your own good judgment.” This woman’s judgement certainly falls into the not good category. Not only did she jeopardize her own well being but also could have injured or killed any hikers below if she had dislodged a rock or kicked over one of her hiking boots she neatly arranged on the wrong side of the fence.
Zion National Park Personal Responsibility:
Your safety depends on your own good judgment, adequate preparation, and constant awareness. Your safety is your responsibility. Every year, Rangers respond to over hundreds of emergency medical or search and rescue incidents in Zion.
Steep Cliffs:
Falls from cliffs on trails have resulted in death. Loose sand or pebbles on stone are very slippery. Be careful of edges when using cameras or binoculars. Never throw or roll rocks. There may be hikers below you. Be aware of the hazards to keep you, others, and park resources safe during your visit.
- Stay on the trail.
- Stay back from cliff edges.
- Observe posted warnings.
- Please watch children.
- Rock is slippery when wet, snowy, or icy.
