Canadian Olympic snowboarder Mark McMorris was on the hockey podcast Spittin’ Chiclets where he discussed a catastrophic crash he suffered in 2017 in the British Columbia backcountry. Mark is thankful to be alive after his brush with death that left hime with 17 broken bones, a ruptured spleen and a collapsed lung. Thankfully his older brother Craig McMorris had a satellite phone and was able to call in an emergency helicopter evacuation that likely saved his little brother’s life. Mark has since recovered and is back competing at the highest levels of snowboarding. There’s a saying that durable people are “hockey tough” and its obvious Mark exemplifies the meaning:
