MEŽICA, Slovenia – This mountain biking trail through an abandoned mine in Slovenia might be among both the most unique and the most terrifying bike trails in the world. The Black Hole Trail in Mežica is an expert trail, designed for very experienced and technically advanced riders. Those who hope to experience the trail are required to have a full suspension mountain bike with at least 140mm of travel, knee and elbow protection, a backpack or back protector, gloves, and a powerful bike light. The last can be rented at the location, but riders need to bring the rest.
“The Black Hole Trail is an adrenaline mountain bike trail through the abandoned tunnels of the Mežica Mine. This area did not see human foot for more than 25 years since the mine closed and until the trail was being created. The huge halls that our ancestors excavated used to be filled with tons of lead and zinc ore. The route descends via 5 horizons (levels) and approximately 150 meters.“
This looks like a very spooky trial. I don’t know about you, but even if I had the skills and ability to ride it, I think I’d skip. Walk through it? Sure. Ride a bike at speed through it? No thanks.
