ASHLAND, Oregon – Oregon’s Mount Ashland recently began a new fundraising effort with the goal of adding new terrain and equipment to the Lithia Chair area and upgrading Night Lighting around the mountain. Any donations made before September 31st will be matched up to $500,000, with the help of Sid and Karen DeBoer. If interested, you can donate here.
The Mount Ashland Association, which manages the mountain, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. The Board of Directors, who delegate management and operations to the staff, are all volunteers and do not receive any compensation. Any operational proceeds are reinvested into the mountain, providing an experience that’s focused on customer access and enjoyment.
The Lithia Chair was announced last year, made possible by donations from the Sid and Karen DeBoer Foundation and Sid and Karen DeBoer, as a part of the organizations 60th anniversary. Last year’s announcement also included the purchase of two demo-used snowcats, in addition to improvements in night skiing, lodge and arrival services, and aging infrastructure, all part of the “Elevate Mt. Ashland initiative.”
According to Ashland.news, the raised money from this specific fundraiser would go towards the building of more trails off the Lithia Chair with improved lighting, providing a more robust opportunity to ski and snowboard for those who can’t hit the mountain during the day. It will also open more terrain for racing events.
