UNITED STATES – There are three maintained places where you can still ski on snow in the United States heading into this weekend. Yes, three! Two of which are still lift access! You can always just strap on your hiking boots and walk up a mountain to find some turns on existing glaciers or year round snowfields. But if that’s too much, here are three areas that will still be open for skiing this upcoming weekend.
Big SNOW American Dream, New Jersey
Big SNOW American Dream is the only indoor ski area in the United States. Offering three ski runs, a park, two carpets, one t-bar, and one chairlift, Big SNOW is a great choice for those in the east hoping to get some summer turns in. The indoor park is open from 1pm-8pm Monday-Thursday, 1pm-9pm on Fridays, 10am-9pm on Saturdays, and 10am-8pm on Sundays. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy two hours on the indoor slopes for $59.99.
Timberline Lodge, Oregon
Lift-access skiing on Mount Hood is still going strong, with the Palmer Snowfield at Timberline Lodge offering multiple public lanes to skiers and snowboarders from 7am – 2pm every day. During the week, much of the terrain will be taken up by summer camp and training programs, but public lanes will always be available. This is not for beginners, as both the slopes and snow quality make things difficult. Lift tickets can be bought in person for $105.
Copper Mountain, Colorado
Copper Mountain’s hike-to park is still going strong right in center village. While there is no chairlift access, those hoping to keep their pipe and rail skills fresh can hike up for just $25 from 10am-5pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Plus Copper keeps a packed summer event schedule, so make sure to check on what’s coming up before you head up there.
