Ski resorts across the industry are always looking for an edge to keep visitors coming once the snow melts and Solitude Mountain Resort has unique offering that is both fun and educational that other resorts should take note of. Nearly every Saturday, the Utah ski resort offers guided geology hikes where guests learn about the rock formations and mining history of the Wasatch Mountains. Great activity for folks just in town for a weekend getaway or locals who want to know more about ground beneath the snow the shred during the ski season. Would love to see programs like this pop up around the country.
Enjoy an informative lift-served guided hike around the resort studying rock formations and learning the natural history of Solitude.
Meet at the Solitude Village Pond at 9:00 a.m. for a 30-minute presentation on the geology that shaped the Wasatch. Guests then take a short break before riding Sunrise lift and hiking to Lake Solitude. After learning about local mining operations, the hike descends to Solitude Village. Geology Hikes return to Solitude Village around 1:30 p.m.
The tour is free, but a valid lift ticket or season pass is required. Please wear hiking shoes or other sturdy footwear for travel on mountain trails. MORE INFO HERE.
