Nearly every Saturday, the Utah ski resort offers guided geology hikes where guests learn about the rock formations and mining history of the Wasatch Mountains. Great activity for folks just in town for a weekend getaway or locals who want to know more about ground beneath the snow the shred during the ski season. Enjoy an informative lift-served guided hike around the resort studying rock formations and learning the natural history of Solitude.
Meet at the Solitude Village Pond at 9:00 a.m. for a 30-minute presentation on the geology that shaped the Wasatch. Guests then take a short break before riding Sunrise lift and hiking to Lake Solitude. After learning about local mining operations, the hike descends to Solitude Village. Geology Hikes return to Solitude Village around 1:30 p.m.
