MOUNT RAINIER, Washington – Hopefully if you’re planning to shoot to summit Washington state’s Mount Rainier, you already know pretty much everything there is to know about the route. If you don’t, you should probably reconsider your attempt. This video from The Wild Outsiders gives a pretty good look at what you’ll be hearing from rangers before heading to the top of Mount Rainier. It’s also just a stunning video.

“If you are prepared to climb Mount Rainier, here is how to get your walk-up permits:
1. Purchase your Annual Climbing Permit, $68 NO NEED to purchase a vehicle timed-entry pass because you must arrive at the Paradise WIC by 7 a.m. to be competitive for walk-up permits. Timed entry permits are needed for entry starting at 7 a.m.
2. Drive to Paradise, plan to arrive before 7 a.m.
3. Lineup at the WIC ~7 a.m. WIC opens at 7:30
4. Fill out paperwork and get walk-up permits for DC Route and campsite, $6
5. Start your climb.
