Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah — One of the biggest challenges that Utah’s ski industry faces is overcrowding. This is exemplified by the nearly daily situation in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Because it is a two-lane road frequently covered with snow or closed to drivers due to avalanche mitigation, Little Cottonwood Canyon has become a tough trip for those who want to make it to and from Alta and Snowbird daily.

Last week, a group of students at the University of Utah released a documentary about Little Cottonwood Canyon’s current problems. Peak Pressure dives into the traffic issues, the proposed gondola solution, why people oppose this project and other potential solutions.

In the documentary, students interviewed some of the biggest names in Utah’s ski industry, including Craig Gordon of the Utah Avalanche Center, Professor Jim Steenburgh, and Town of Alta Town Manager Chris Crawley.

This documentary is a great watch for those who want to learn more about Little Cottonwood Canyon, along with the divisive gondola proposal.
