Paratroopers of the 173D Airborne Brigade aka Sky Soldiers, an airborne infantry brigade combat team of the United States Army based in Vicenza, Italy, joined ski instructors from the Italian 6th Alpini Regiment for a basic alpine ski course where they learned downhill alpine ski, uphill ski technique in complicated terrain and avalanche victim recovery.

Our boys started out the morning with a bit of touring followed by a break in the lodge where they sipped Italian Army Cappuccinos (yes that’s a thing). Next up was the downhill portion of the day where the paratroopers tossed on race bibs and did hot laps at a ski resort before closing out their training with some avalanche work back at the barracks.

In the end all of scouts exceeded the standard of the course and are ready to move onto the advanced course. Well done!
