Sutton, Canada- Mont Sutton is planning to make some major improvements.
This week, Mont Sutton announced they received a $5 Million CAD grant from Quebec’s Tourism Industry Recovery Assistance Program. The major project for which they intend to use this grant is a new quad chairlift. The chairlift will be suited for families, as it will have a loading conveyor ramp. This chairlift will be on the mountain’s west side and replace the I, Io, and IIo chairlifts (pictured below).

This isn’t the only major project planned with this grant. Other projects include building glamping sites near the V chairlift, adding more sculptures to their open-air museum, and installing RFID gates. In total, these projects will cost $11 million CAD, meaning that the grant will cover only part of the expenses for these investments.

Jean-Michel Ryan (pictured above), president and general manager of the ski resort, said the following in the press release about the grant:
โMont SUTTON welcomes with great enthusiasm this support from the Ministry of Tourism, which will further cement the four-season positioning of the mountain in the region. The subsidy revealed today will also allow Mont SUTTON to pursue the objective of improving its ski infrastructure and continue the diversification of its tourist offering to offer even more to its visitors. The projects announced in connection with this $5 million grant are estimated at approximately $11 million, which will bring the investments made at Mont SUTTON to more than $22 million since 2016!โ
Mont Sutton has seen many impressive additions in recent years. This has included building a mountain biking trail network with the assistance of Plein Air Sutton, adding an 18-hole disc golf course, opening two zip lines, one of which is the steepest in the country, introducing summer chairlift rides, opening up more campsites, and expanding the open-air museum.
The Quebec ski resort has not officially announced a timeline for these projects.
