Our North American ski season is sadly coming to an end. We might be skiing into May or even June, sure, but we have to accept that it is almost time to put away those skis. Or, if you grab yourself a 2024/25 Ikon Pass, you could start planning a trip to the southern hemisphere…
Valle Nevado Ski Resort in Chile will open for their winter (our summer) on June 21. According to the Ikon Pass website, Valle Nevado has the largest amount of terrain in the Southern Hemisphere, with the most modern lift system in the area. It includes 2400 acres of skiing and snowboarding over a 2,658 foot vertical drop. With an average snowfall of 240″, Valle Nevado makes for a great destination during our Norther Hemisphere summers.
Ikon Pass holders get a series of days at the Chile resort, depending on the pass they hold. The full Ikon Pass provides 7 unrestricted days, while both the Base and the Base plus provide 5. If you’re hoping to get your hands on one of these, you better act fast. Prices go up TONIGHT.
More About in 2024:
For the 2024 ski season, Valle Nevado is excited to introduce its ninth restaurant, El Montañés, which offers an exquisite dining experience high in the mountains, accessible via a six-passenger gondola. Here, guests can enjoy traditional mountain-inspired cuisine paired with fine Chilean wines. The season is packed with signature events, including the Chile Wine Festival in August, featuring wine tastings, seminars, and live music, and Wellness Week in September, offering a range of activities aimed at relaxation amid the stunning Andes Mountains. Valle Nevado is also extending a special offer of free skiing and snowboarding for all children aged 12 and under. The resort operates daily from June 17 through October 6, with lifts running from 9 am to 5 pm. Season pass holders can benefit from exclusive lodging packages, enhancing the world-class skiing experience over 2,400 skiable acres and extensive heli-skiing terrain. Bookings and more details are available at vallenevado.com/pt/hotel-promotions.
Valle Nevado isn’t the only Souther Hemisphere resort that Ikon Pass holders gain access to, either. In New Zealand, pass holders can ski at Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, and Mt Hutt, while Australia offers Thredbo and Mt Buller. And with Ikon Pass Travel, it’s super easy to get those trips planned and set up.
Seriously though, if you’re planning on grabbing an Ikon Pass, act fast. At the time of writing this there’s just over 11 hours left before those prices move.
