Coronado National Forest, Arizona— Few people know about the southernmost ski area in the country. Located around 41 miles outside downtown Tuscon, Mount Lemmon Ski Valley has been a community staple since the late 1940s. The ski area is known for its varied terrain and diverse food offerings, including homemade fudge. During the offseason, it remains open for scenic chairlift rides, which showcase the incredible views.

In a recent episode of Arizona Illustrated, they covered the story of Mount Lemmon Ski Valley. The five-minute video covers its geographical uniqueness, the ski area’s history, experience, and challenges due to its remote location.

Mount Lemmon closed for the ski season on March 18th but is open for chairlift rides and hiking.
